On January 27, 2011 at 07:51 Cornelius-Lemley Fire Rescue was dispatched to a vehicle accident with one overturned at the intersection of West Catawba Avenue and Interstate 77. Rescue 4 arrived to find a motor vehicle accident involving two cars with one on it’s roof. Upon investigation one patient was found to be entrapped in the overturned vehicle. Firefighters from Rescue 4 stabilized the vehicle and began removing the passenger side doors to gain entry and provide emergency medical care to the patient. Engine 3’s crew arrived, provided patient care and assisted with the extrication. The patient was free at 08:04 and removed to awaiting Medic personnel. One Engine from Davidson Fire Department was added to the call for additional manpower but was canceled prior to their arrival. Cornelius units were on scene for approximately forty five minutes.
